Welcome to a page about UKC and Linguarena.

Linguarena is built on top of the Universal Knowledge Core (UKC), a large scale multilingual leixcal resource which contains data from: Princeton WordNet, Open Multilingual WordNet, African WordNet, WordNet Domains, Wiktionary

UKC is a large scale multilingual leixcal resource which is being developed for past 15 years in KnowDive group under the supervision of Fausto Giunchiglia. Its core architecture were designed and implemented around 2004 by Fausto Giunchiglia with the joint efforts between Ilya Zaihrayeu and Marco Marasca. And later on, it was improved by many former members including: Feroz Farazi, Moaz Reyad. Currently, it is developed and managed by Khuyagbaatar Batsuren, Abed Alhakim Freihat, Gabor Bella. And also it is progressively contributed over a time from many following collaborators for each language:
  • For Mongolia, Prof. Altangerel Chagnaa, Dr. Amarsanaa Ganbold, and Dr. Zoljargal Munkhjargal from Machine Intelligence Laboratory, National University of Mongolia
  • For Spanish, Prof. Altangerel Chagnaa, Dr. Amarsanaa Ganbold, and Dr. Zoljargal Munkhjargal from Machine Intelligence Laboratory, National University of Mongolia
  • For Chinese, Prof. Altangerel Chagnaa, Dr. Amarsanaa Ganbold, and Dr. Zoljargal Munkhjargal from Machine Intelligence Laboratory, National University of Mongolia

Since the beginning, the UKC has been designed with the goal of supporting the automation of reasoning based on information extracted from text, the original goal being the matching of ontologies. We also thank the many postdocs and PhD students (Enrico Bignotti, Subhashis Das, Sajan Raj Ojha, Amarsanaa Ganbold) who have extensively used the UKC in their research.
